Oz 923 – On the edge  
The main strength of this project is the reconfiguration of
the neglected intermediate space.
An additional building volume enables the monofunctionality
of the site to be broken. As a basic principle the street
space is redefined with this measure, but only when the
principle of densification with the ground floor zones of
further building plots is adopted and the street space is
enclosed on both sides. The height of this ground floor area
as well as the condition and usability of rooftops should be
examined in more detail.
The principle is thus worthy of implementation and requires
a careful evaluation of the economic feasibility of the
additional areas and the proposed underground car parks
as an investment without a direct ‘return’.
As a restructuring principle this procedure offers a kind of
spatial blue-print solution from the structured, low-density
‘Corbusian’ city to a compact, multifunctional urban
district of the 21st century.
Questions of project management, programming of spaces
and the urban planning consequences of multiple uses of
ground floor extensions appear to be further logical steps.
Not only the parcels, but also the resulting enclosed street
space as a new address requires further careful consideration
in terms of proportion, materialisation, appointment
and atmosphere.

EV 467 – Urban Permaculture
This submission deals on the one hand with the site, on the
other hand with the possible metamorphoses of the buildings.
The subject of fragmented ownership is examined
and is ultimately owed to the image of an overall address.
Vacant ground floor areas are converted to passageways,
resulting in a more complete network of footpaths.
The site itself is variably configured as a field of action.
A car park at basement level frees up space for other uses,
although it must first be secured by financing mechanisms.
In coaching the individual fragmented parcels of the
building, the challenge of strategy and participation of the
owners is paramount. Subsequent elaboration will serve to
illustrate that the real estate value is directly related to the
quality of appearance, but cannot be taken for granted or
guaranteed.
Managing this process is a core topic of the accompanying
process for these apartment buildings, to create and guarantee
quality living in the long term.
The 12 principles are universally valid but nevertheless isolated
and should be more directly addressed in the project
in the form of more specific guidelines.
The equitable preparation of strategies for buildings, areas
and infrastructure is the strength of an integral approach to
the subject of urban renewal.
The refinement of this catalogue of possibilities is a further
important step that must be taken with the different
protagonists, while sounding out the different interests and
motivations.

lW 634 – in between days
The jury praised this project as a valuable contribution
that respectfully deals with existing structure of buildings
and the space around them. Proposed interventions are
in small scale and based on improvements of quality of
surrounding space which improves quality of life.
Architects propose to build modern pavilions as shelters,
canopies for pedestrians, bicycle storages, places for
meetings furnished with new benches and what is the
strongest proposal: lighting system which is represented
by varied forms and shapes of lamps some of them in really
big size. Project is consequent and proposes liquidation of
all barriers, The whole area is open and accessible day and
night, providing pleasant place to spent time for all users,
inviting people throughout all seasons especially during
bad weather.
